One-Day Consultative Workshop on “Encouraging Problem Solving Research: Policy for Enabling Environment” , “A Seminar at Faisalabad, Lahore and Karachi for Future S&T Collaboration

One-Day Consultative Workshop on “Encouraging Problem Solving Research: Policy for Enabling Environment” was held on 17th June, 2014 at Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad. The workshop was jointly organized by Pakistan Council for Science & Technology, PCST, Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Center, PASTIC and Institute of Research promotion, IRP.  A large number of distinguished scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs and academicians from 34 institutes and universities attended the full day workshop.

The Chairperson visited University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, she was warmly welcomed by the Vice Chancellor, faculty and students. She highlighted the role of PCST in the development of science and technology in country and the importance of academia industry linkage. She distributed prizes to the winners of the event “Invoke 2014’, Business Plan Competition, innovative ideas in research proposals”. The first, second and third prizes were awarded to the brilliant students during the event. The first prize was worth Rs. 50,000.

Dr. Mudassir Asrar, Chairperson PCST to strengthen the academia industry linkage and for future collaboration in different fields of Science, Technology, innovation and entrepreneur held a number of meetings at various research centers and laboratories during her visit to Faisalabad, Lahore and Karachi. These include visits at Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, National Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Faisalabad, NIAB, Wheat research, LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship, Lahore, Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Lahore, IBA, Karachi, Bahria University, Karachi and Karachi University.
